One of my favorite types of yoga is Restorative. It feels so good to just let my body relax! This sequence of six poses is simple and accessible to almost everyone! Carve out 20 mins max and experience the power relaxation brings. Challenge yourself to relax your mind as well.

Restorative Flow

“Let Go”

Hold Each Pose for 3-5 Minutes

1.    Child’s Pose

Sit the hips back onto the heels, resting your head onto the mat. Let your whole body relax

2.    Forward Fold

Sit with your legs outstretched. You may choose to sit on a pillow to create more space in the hips. As you fold forward you may fold over a bolster to fully release into the pose. Create space in the hamstrings and low back.

3.    Figure Four

From your back, bring your right ankle to the outside of your left knee. Hug the left knee into your chest, feeling the stretch deep in your right hip.

4.    Supine Twist

Lie on your back and bend both knees toward the chest, then lower the legs to the right side. Reach your arms out in a “t” and look at your left fingers. Repeat on the other side.

5.    Jack Knife

Lying on your back bring a block or stack or blankets underneath your hips. Be careful to avoid placing the block on your low back. Lift your legs straight into the air or keep your knees bent.

6.    Recline Butterfly

Bring the soles of the feet together hold on to the ankles keeping the back straight. Optionally, gently lower your back over a bolster or pillow.
